Galaxy Auckland Prizegiving 2022/2023
Galaxy Touch Auckland held their annual prizegiving on Saturday 29th April 2023. It was a night to celebrate our awesome club and its members. Our club president Craig Coulter stood down after 26 years at the helm and was thanked for his massive contribution and presented with a pounamu pendant for his years of service. Our newly elected president Evelyn Tudehope also paid tribute to Craig and now takes over. We are hugely excited to having her navigate and lead us forward from here. Paul Rewha a trustee of the club spoke on the night of his involvement with Galaxy Auckland for over 20 years then in recent years starting up and running Galaxy Beachlands(Pohutukawa Coast) who have just completed a full on summer season with 12 Galaxy teams (including 9 junior teams) competing there taking out 5 grades and placing second and third in 4 other grades. Ben Bartlett spoke of the involvement of our youth players on the rise this season including 4 players who fly out next week to represent NZ Touch in Australia Taimana Tatana, Adam Morrison, Jasmin Munro from Auckland and Jake Wiles from Beachlands. Peter Walters spoke of our worldwide network and the opportunities available to our members as well as our Academy and activation programs over winter and Dave Edmonds and Maraea Taikato spoke of the 14 masters team that competed successfully in the PanPac Games on the Gold Coast last November and the 7 Auckland Masters teams that competed over summer at modules. An awesome night with good people, good food and good times.
